MS Late Work Policy

AR-WE-VA MIDDLE SCHOOL

LATE WORK POLICY

Middle school students are expected to complete and turn in assignments on the day the assignment is due.

Students who do not have an assignment completed by the due date will be required to complete the assignment at some time before the quarter ends or an Incomplete Grade (I) will be given on the report card.

As stated in the handbook, if an Incomplete Grade (I) is given on the report card, one calendar week is allowed after the end of the quarter to finish incomplete work (unless the administration determines that unusual circumstances necessitate extra time).

If the work is not completed after one week, the Incomplete Grade (I) will be changed to a Failing Grade (F).

HOW DO LATE ASSIGNMENTS AFFECT GRADES?

·      If a late assignment is turned in by the beginning of class the day after the assignment was originally due, 20% will be deducted from the grade the student earned on the assignment.

     EXAMPLE:

Grade student earned on late assignment         80%

Deduction for one day late         - 20%

                  Grade recorded         60%

·      If a late assignment is turned in LATER than one day after the original due date, 50% will be deducted from the grade the student earned on the assignment.

     EXAMPLE:

Grade student earned on late assignment         80%

Deduction for more than one day late         - 50%

                  Grade recorded         30%
